需要指出的是，所谓“蝙蝠侠前传”的说法是不恰当的。首先，本系列影片本身有完整闭合的剧情；其次，本系列电影的情节与以前影片有冲突之处，比如《黑暗骑士崛起》的第一反派贝恩(Bane)，在1997年的电影《蝙蝠侠与罗宾》中只是一个令人恶心的配角；第三，影片的英文名(Batman Begins，The Dark Knight，The Dark Knight Rises)里也并无任何“前传”的意思，所以，克里斯托弗·诺兰的蝙蝠侠系列电影跟以前的蝙蝠侠相关电影并无任何关联，是一个独立的系列。
